AmplideX™ FMR1 PCR*

The AmplideX® FMR1 PCR (RUO) reagents are state-of-the-art research tools for the detection of CGG repeats in the fragile X mental retardation (FMR1) gene. This product supports two different PCR formats, Gene-specific FMR1 PCR and CGG Repeat Primed(RP) PCR. These reagents can detect full mutations up to at least 1300 CGG, accurately size up to 200 CGG repeats, detect interrupting AGG sequences and resolve female zygosity. These reagents have been evaluated in three peer review publications and tested in dozens of laboratories in the US and abroad.

Either PCR format can reduce the number of samples required for Southern blot analysis by as much as 50-fold*.

Traceability to Fragile X Testing Standards

The AmplideX® FMR1 PCR (RUO) reagents are traceable to the Fragile X panel materials available from the National Institute of Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC). This panel, certified by the World Health Organization as an international standard, comprises female normal, female pre mutation, femal full mutaion, male full mutation and male pre mutation with repeats ranging from 22 to 759 CGG. Novel PCR Configurations

Asuragen currently recommends the following instrumentation for use with these PCR reagents:

  • ABI 9700 Thermocycler, ABI Veriti, or MJ Research PTC-200 thermal cyclers
  • An ABI Multicapilary Genetic analyzer (3130, 3730, 3500) running POP-7 Polymer

Use of instrumentation outside of these recommendations cannot be supported at this time.
